USC vs. Arizona State Key Stats
USC Trojans
The USC Trojans have been one of the best offensive teams in the sport as they are scoring 59.3 points on 580.7 total yards per game. Junior quarterback Caleb Williams has been a Heisman Trophy candidate throughout the season thus far as he is 55-of-70 (78.6 completion percentage) for 878 yards with 12 touchdowns without an interception while running 12 times for 61 yards with a rushing touchdown. Hey have a strong wide receiver in senior Tahj Washington as he has nine receptions for 233 yards (25.9 yards per catch) with three touchdown receptions. This offense has been doing extremely well and with a week off, they should be healthy here too.
The defense of the USC Trojans has to continue stepping up as they are giving up 17.3 points on 368.3 total yards per game. They were able to hold the Stanford Cardinal to 10 points on 349 total yards. The defense has to do better defending the run as Stanford averaged 5.1 rushing yards per game. Their pass defense was incredible as the Trojans defense allowed 10-of-25 completions throughout the game and forced three turnovers (two fumble recoveries, one interception). If they can figure things out and stay locked in on this side of the ball, they will be in the College Football Playoff.
Arizona State Sun Devils
The Arizona State Sun Devils have been doing poorly throughout the season as they are scoring 13 points on 292.7 total yards per game. Despite the struggles, freshman quarterback Jaden Rashada has been doing alright as he is 34-of-60 (56.7 completion percentage) for 403 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. They are not running the football too well with less than 100 rushing yards per game but finding the end zone decently well. Junior running back Cameron Skattebo has 36 rushing attempts for 148 yards (4.1 yards per carry) with two rushing touchdowns and six catches for 51 yards. If they can figure out how to sustain some drives, it will be a good spot for them.
The Arizona State Sun Devils have been struggling a bit as they are giving up 25.7 points on 368.3 total yards per game to this point. In their most recent game against the Fresno State Bulldogs, the Sun Devils gave up 29 points on 350 total yards per game. They allowed 24 total first downs but Arizona State did incredibly well as they held Fresno State to just two rushing yards per attempt and 5.7 passing yards per attempt. They had their defense behind the eight-ball as the offense had eight turnovers in the game so their offense can help the defense.
