Browns vs. Steelers Key Stats

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are looking to continue their dominance this season as they were able to score 24 points on 360 total yards. The team dominated running the football as running back Nick Chubb finished with 18 carries for 106 yards (5.9 yards per attempt). Quarterback Deshaun Watson needs to step up though as he finished 16-of-29 for 154 yards with a touchdown and an interception while also running five times for 45 yards and a rushing touchdown. The team had 21 first downs total despite going just 4-of-14 on third downs. They need to continue having dominance in the trenches to run the ball in order to be successful.

The Browns did a phenomenal job defensively as they held Cincinnati to three points on 142 total yards. They allowed just six total first downs in the game and the Bengals went 2-of-15 on third down while failing to convert their singular fourth down opportunity. Cleveland’s defense had two sacks but were able to hit the quarterback 10 different times. They did an amazing job only allowing 2.6 yards per pass attempt throughout the game and eliminated the deep ball against a team with three talented wide receivers.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers need to bounce back offensively after Week 1 as they scored seven points on 273 total yards against the San Francisco 49ers. Quarterback Kenny Pickett struggled as he went 31-of-46 for 232 yards with a touchdown pass and two interceptions. Running back Najee Harris could not get going either as he finished with just six rushes for 31 yards as well as a pair of catches for two yards in the game. Going up against a talented defensive front made it difficult as well with Pittsburgh giving up five sacks and nine quarterback hits. They need to produce a lot better offensively if they want to win games.

The defense struggled against a loaded 49ers team as they allowed 30 points on 391 total yards. Running back Christian McCaffrey dominated on the ground with 22 carries on 152 yards with a touchdown and their secondary was torched by Brandon Aiyuk, who had eight receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns. The Niners averaged 5.9 yards per play throughout the game. The Steelers defense had three sacks and seven quarterback hits in the game but all the sacks and five of the quarterback hits came from TJ Watt. They need the rest of the defense to step up to avoid an 0-2 start.
