Philadelphia 76ers Preview
Philadelphia is coming into this game after getting a win over Indiana, and they look like one of the most unstoppable teams in the league right now.
Philadelphia has been a great team recently, as they are 7-3 in their last ten games. If Philadelphia is going to win this game, it will most likely be on the offensive side of the ball. They are ranked fifth in the league when it comes to offensive efficiency, and they will most likely try to get the ball into Joel Embiid this game, who is difficult for anyone to stop. It won’t be easy for Embiid, though, as he will be going up against Rudy Gobert, who has a great defensive rating this season at 108.5. That will probably end up being a fun matchup to watch, so we should keep our eye out for those two.
Something that Philadelphia does have to be careful with in this game is how they are going to keep someone like Anthony Edwards in check. The Timberwolves don’t have great defense in their backcourt, and since Anthony Edwards is having a career year this season with him averaging about 25 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Although he can be a problem for Philadelphia, Edwards hasn’t been too efficient recently, as he is 39-99 from the field since the all star break, which is a little bit south of 40%. Either way, they should be careful with him, because he can be a threat to any team.
Minnesota Timberwolves Preview
Minnesota is coming into this game after a close win against the Sacramento Kings, and they are sitting at 34-32 on the season.
What’s going to be difficult for this game for Minnesota is that they will once again be without Karl-Anthony Towns, who still has an injured calf. He is a loss for Timberwolves that will hurt them mainly on the offensive side of the ball, but despite his absence, the Timberwolves haven’t been too bad when he’s gone. This season when Towns is out, the Timberwolves are 21-18, which is pretty similar to how the Timberwolves were playing before he got injured. But even though he is out, there might be someone who can pick it up on the offensive side of the ball while he’s gone.
The player that has ended up being a nice pickup for Minnesota has been Mike Conley. Especially in Minnesota’s last game where he put up 24 points on the board. If he can do that consistently, that could make the Timberwolves a team that no one really wants to face. But for now, their key to victory is if they are able to slow down someone like Joel Embiid, which might be close to impossible. However, they do have the former Defensive Player of the Year in Rudy Gobert, so he should give Embiid a huge challenge in the paint. Either way, it won’t be easy.
Winner Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -1
Philadelphia has been playing some great basketball lately, and you should expect that to continue.
Minnesota also hasn’t been the greatest team so far this year, so you should expect the 76ers to get the win over the Timberwolves in Minnesota.
