Los Angeles Angels vs. St. Louis Cardinals Betting Odds Breakdown

The Los Angeles Angels and the St. Louis Cardinals will be ending a three game set in St. Louis on Thursday.

The Cardinals are coming into this game as the favorite at -1.5, and the over/under is sitting at 8.5 runs. Along with that, the moneyline is sitting at -145 for St. Louis and +125 for LA.

Los Angeles Angels Preview

The Angels have won the first two games of this series, and they will be looking for the sweep in this one.

The Angels pitching in this series has been pretty solid, and they will for sure be looking to keep that going in the series finale. They had Shohei Ohtani out on the mound in game two of this series, and behind his masterful pitching, the Angels were able to take game two from St. Louis. LA will have Griffin Canning out on the mound for them in this one, and he hasn’t been the greatest pitcher in the world to start the season, but he is definitely good enough to give the Angels’ offense plenty of support.

For the most part at the start of the season, the Angels have been kind of mediocre. They are still a solid team, especially with Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani on the same team, but they haven’t really stood out in any particular category. This team has so much talent on it, but for some reason, something is not working the way it’s supposed to. The Angels have had a collection of injury problems the past couple of years, but after a full season last year of a healthy Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, they were still unable to make the playoffs. This team has a lot of talent on it, but we’ll see if the Angels are able to figure out what isn’t working.

St. Louis Cardinals Preview

The Cardinals have struggled at the start of the season, which wasn’t all that expected at the start of the season.

One of the bigger problems for St. Louis is that their pitching has been a bit underwhelming to start the season. And for a team that has a solid rotation and a solid bullpen, it’s odd to see them struggle so much with their pitching. The Cardinals as a whole have an ERA of 4.35 on the season, which is pretty much just below average. Their team definitely has the talent to turn this slow start around, but a bigger problem for them is their situational hitting.

So far this season, the Cardinals have not had many problems with getting players on base. They are 10th in the league for on-base percentage at .333, but the Cardinals are having a very difficult time at driving those runners in. St. Louis is sitting at 21st in the league for runs per game at 4.35, which isn’t the worst in the league, but they need to clean up their situational hitting. Based on their on-base percentage, they have a lot of potential to score many more runs per game. This is something that can certainly be fixed, though.

Winner Prediction: Los Angeles Angels +1.5

With the struggles that the Cardinals are having right now, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Angels get a win in this one.

St. Louis has already had many problems with hitting off of the Angels in this series, and it is possible that that could continue.
