New York Giants vs. Washington Commanders (12/18 @ 8:20 PM EST.)

Spread: Washington (-4.5)
Total: Over 40

Overview and Betting Information

The New York Giants and Washington Commanders meet on Sunday night for their second matchup in a three-week time span. The last time these two teams met was Week 13, and the game ended in a 20-20 tie. Both teams have identical 7-5-1 records and are trying to stay alive in the postseason playoff hunt.

New York Giants

The Giants had such a promising start to the 2022 season, but they have struggled lately. They have only won one of their last five games; the others were three losses and the tie. The win came against the Houston Texans.

Injuries have been an issue. Scoring points is another one; the highest point score they had in the past five games was 24 against the Texans. The Giants need Saquon Barkley to run the ball for this offense to succeed.

Brian Daboll has done a decent job with this team in his first year as a head coach, but he will need to be masterful to get this team to play well with tough games at the end of the season. The Giants still must face Minnesota and Philadelphia.

Washington Commanders

While the Giants have sputtered in recent weeks, the Commanders have done the exact opposite. They have won three out of their last five games with the others ending in a loss and a tie. Their biggest win of the season was against the Philadelphia Eagles whom they handed their first loss of the season. The loss was a close one against the Vikings.

The Commanders are proving that they are talented enough to take on tough teams. Taylor Heinicke has done well leading the team after Carson Wentz went down with an injury. Heinicke does not seem intimidated by a big stage or moment as evidenced by his performance in the Eagles game. That is good news because they have games against San Francisco and Dallas coming up.

The Commanders come into this game rested after a Week 14 bye, so they prepared for two straight games against the Giants.

Free Pick: Over 40

These teams scored 40 points two weeks ago. The Giants average 20.5 points per game while the Commanders are averaging 19.5.  It is hard to know who will win this game. It is a must-win for both teams and will be close just like their last meeting. That makes Over 40 the recommended choice.
