Louisiana vs. Houston Betting Odds Breakdown

Louisiana and Houston will be meeting up on December 23rd for the Independence Bowl in Houston.

Houston is coming into this game as the favorite at -7, and the over/under is sitting at 58.5 points.

Louisiana Preview

Louisiana is coming off of a blowout win in their final regular season game, and they are now turning their attention to the Independence Bowl.

Louisiana played very well in their last regular season game against Texas State, but they will be having a much more difficult task in Houston in this game. They were able to have tremendous success in the passing game against Texas State with 271 total passing yards, and they could give themselves a chance to win if they perform that well again. But once again, they will have a much more difficult task with Houston that will put up a larger effort on defense.

Louisiana is a hard team to predict defensively in this game. They obviously have many defensive troubles with teams that are ranked, and they obviously play pretty solid defense when they play teams that are not ranked. But for this game, Houston seems like a better team, so it’s completely possible that they expose Louisiana’s defense, but Louisiana could put up a fight defensively in this game.

Houston Preview

Houston is coming off of a loss to Tulsa in their final game of the regular season, and they will be trying to beat Louisiana in the Independence Bowl.

Houston played a very solid game offensively, with them putting up 30 points up on the board. Quarterback Clayton Tune played especially well with him throwing for 386 yards and two touchdowns. He could very easily lead Houston to victory in this one, but their defense needs to step up going into this game.

Houston had a very poor game defensively against Tulsa, with them letting up 37 points. They couldn’t stop Tulsa quarterback Braylon Braxton, with him throwing for 316 yards and three touchdowns. He even had a good rushing day with 51 yards and one touchdown on 11 attempts. There’s no way around it, their defense has to step up if they want to win. And luckily for Houston, they’ve done that before.

Winner Prediction: Houston -7

This game could be very close, but Houston should be able to get the win over Louisiana.

Houston seems like the better team, and them winning the Independence Bowl over Louisiana feels realistic.
