New York Jets vs. Seattle Seahawks Preview and Prediction (1/1/23)

Total: 42.5

New York Jets Vs. Seattle Seahawks Betting Odds Breakdown

The New York Jets and the Seattle Seahawks will be facing off on New Year’s Day in week 17.

New York is coming into this game as the favorite at -2.5, and the over/under is sitting at 42.5 points.

New York Jets Preview

The Jets are coming off of a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, which is now their fourth loss in a row.

The biggest story for New York going into this game will be the return of quarterback Mike White. He was out for a period of time with fractured ribs, and in that time, the Jets turned to Zach Wilson, who did not play well for them in the time he played. White played well in the time he played, but it may not be easy for him to play well in his comeback from fractured ribs. That’s not an easy injury to come back from, and it may take some time before he plays his best football again.

Against the Jaguars last week, the Jets’ offense was absolutely terrible. Zach Wilson looked awful during the time he played, with 92 passing yards and one interception on a 50 percent completion rating. He got benched during the game, and even quarterback Chris Streveler looked better than him. Hopefully they can get more production out of Mike White, because his performance could decide this game.

Seattle Seahawks Preview

Seattle is coming off of a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in week 16, and they’ll be trying to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Jets.

Seattle had a rough game against the Chiefs, but Geno Smith had a solid game with 215 passing yards and one touchdown. He’s been surprisingly good for the Seahawks this year, and he will continue to try to lead Seattle to the playoffs. But it won’t be easy for him this week, as the Jets have a pretty good passing defense, with them letting up only 195.5 passing yards per game. The Jets definitely will not make it easy for Geno Smith.

This feels like a game that is winnable for the Seahawks. If they can keep some players like Garrett Wilson in check, they should be able to get the win. But if they can’t do that, this game will certainly be more interesting. But for Seattle, this game might just come down to if their defense can keep the New York Jets in check.

Winner Prediction: Seattle Seahawks +2.5

Going into this game, it feels like the Seahawks have the upper hand with the quarterback uncertainties of the New York Jets. So, the Seattle Seahawks should be able to get the win over the Jets to keep their playoff hopes alive in week 17.
