The Philadelphia Phillies have been doing well as of late and are second in the NL East with a 63-52 record so far. Nationals vs. Phillies Key Stats

Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals have been a decent offensive team throughout the season. They are tied for 19th in the majors with a .716 OPS while scoring 4.31 runs per game. In their 59 road games, they are eighth with a .252/.317/.397 team slash line and scoring 4.59 runs per game. Right fielder Lane Thomas is hitting well and has a .816 OPS with 20 homers, 64 RBIs, and 78 runs scored.

Patrick Corbin has been struggling on the bump this year. He is sitting at 7-11 with a 5.03 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP across 132.1 innings of work. Hitters have hit 24 home runs against him this year so it will be interesting. He faced the Phillies four times last season and was 0-4 in 15.1 innings and allowed 27 runs (20 earned) on 35 hits with two hit by pitches, six walks and eight strikeouts.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies have been a decent offense this year. Philly is sitting at 12th in MLB with a .741 OPS while averaging 4.61 runs per game up to this point. They have been hitting at home well so far. In their 54 home games, they have posted a .758 OPS while averaging 4.81 runs thus far. Left fielder Kyle Schwarber has been doing decently well at the plate. He is slashing .183/.324/.433 with 30 home runs, 72 RBIs and 68 runs scored.

Aaron Nola has been doing decently well up to this point. He is currently 9-8 with a 4.58 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP over 143.1 innings. He has been staying ahead in the count lately as he has eight walks to 49 strikeouts in his previous 42.2 innings. Nola faced the Nats four times last year and he was 1-1 in 23.2 innings and gave up four runs on 18 hits with four walks (one intentional) and 18 strikeouts.

Nationals vs. Phillies Prediction

The Phillies just pitched a no-hitter last night against these Nationals so the bullpen was rested and should be able to control this game. Philadelphia has been one of the best teams in the entire National League while Washington has been struggling to get going. Patrick Corbin has been pitching better as of late but this Philly lineup should do well. All in all, go with the Phillies to cover the run like at home.

Betting Prediction: Philadelphia Phillies-1.5 (-120)
