Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks (10/26) @ 7:30 PM EST
Brooklyn Nets vs. Milwaukee Bucks Breakdown and Betting Odds
The Brooklyn Nets (1-2) are set to square off against the Milwaukee Bucks (2-0) in Fiserv Forum tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST with the Bucks favored by 4 points and the over/under set at 232.
The Bucks defeated the Nets in three of their four games last season, covering the spread in each of these matchups.
Brooklyn Nets Overview
Brooklyn is off to a rough start on the season, losing two out of three games. Their last matchup, against the Memphis Grizzlies, was a 124-134 loss in which the Nets failed to cover the +1.5 point spread. Kevin Durant went an impressive 14-20 from the field, dropping 37 points. His star guard Kyrie Irving also dropped 37, on 14-24 shooting. Brooklyn’s offense has been stellar thus far, leading the NBA in 2-point shooting, ranking top five in field goal percentage, and top ten in free throw attempts.
The Nets defense has not been their problem, however. Brooklyn’s defense has allowed 123.8 points per game so far this season, which is fourth most in the league. While they do lead the league in blocked shots, they have struggled to stop offenses during long stretches, which is part of the reason they are currently below .500.
Milwaukee Bucks Overview
The Bucks have looked solid thus far. After finishing fourth in offensive rating last season, the Milwaukee has picked up where they left off, shooting 48.5% from the field, 39.7% from three, and 55.2% from two. Their last matchup saw them blowout the Houston Rockets 105-125, easily covering the -13 point spread. Giannis put up an impressive 44 points on an efficient 17-21 shooting split. He also had 12 rebounds and went 2-3 from three. Jrue Holiday also had a day, dropping 19 points on 53% shooting, grabbing in 5 rebounds, and passing out 10 assists.
The Bucks are also dominating on the other side of the ball, leading the league in allowed points per game with just 96.5. Jrue Holiday, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Brook Lopez have continued to be elite, giving offenses major problems when trying to score from anywhere beyond the arc to inside the paint.
Free Pick: Over 232
With two elite offenses, and the Nets lack of defense, we see a lot of scoring happening in this game, which is why we like the Over 232. Although the Bucks have been great on defense thus far, much of the Nets offense is tied up in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who have always excelled offensively, even against some of the greatest defenses in the league. We also expect Giannis to have a great offensive game, with no one on the Nets having the defensive prowess to stifle his production.
