Denver Nuggets Preview
The Denver Nuggets are coming into this game after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers, and they’ll be looking to bounce back.
Overall, the Nuggets didn’t play poorly against LA. Their only problem was that they shot the ball at a very low percentage. The Lakers didn’t shoot the ball much better, but Denver only made 41 of their 96 shots attempted. Luckily for the Nuggets, that is not a stat that is too common for them. The biggest advantage the Nuggets have in this game is Nikol Jokic. The only player that might’ve been able to guard him was Chet Holmgren, but he is now out for the season. He’s going to be a difficult player for the Thunder to guard, and you should expect him to have a big game.
Another advantage for Denver is that they are well-rested. Their last game was on October 30th against the Lakers, so they will be coming into this game fresh. Although they are fresh, they still have to find a way to guard Shai-Gilgeuos Alexander. He had a great game against the Orlando Magic with 34 points last time out, so he’ll be looking to build on that. Other than finding a way to guard Shai, Denver should have a huge advantage in this game.
Oklahoma City Thunder Preview
The Thunder are coming off of a comeback win against the Orlando Magic, and they’ll be trying to get a statement win over the Nuggets.
The highlight for the Thunder against the Magic was the outstanding performance from Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, putting 34 points up on the board. There were other pieces on the Thunder that got some solid offense in, but Shai did most of the work. And now, that can be a problem for Oklahoma City. Shai playing that well every night is not guaranteed, so everyone else will have to step up and play to their full potential. Especially against a team like the Nuggets when they can get hot at any point in the game.
The defense for the Thunder performed very well against the Magic, forcing 24 turnovers. The only thing that they have to clean up are the rebounds, where they got out-rebounded 49 to 36. But, they do need to find a way to stop Nikola Jokic. He’s such a difficult player for any team to guard, and it could be even more difficult for the Thunder with how young they are. If they can limit Nikola’s scoring, they can put themselves into a good position to win.
Winner Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder +6
The Thunder are getting hot early in the season with a four game win streak, and they’re performing really well. Along with that, they will be the home team in this game. The fans will be rooting for them, and they should be able to continue their hot streak.
