Miami Heat Vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Odds Breakdown

The Miami Heat are having a rough start to the year, and they’ll be looking to change that, while the Warriors are going into this game after a blowout loss against the Phoenix Suns.

The Heat and Warriors split their season series last year, and both of these teams will be looking to get off on the right foot against each other. Golden State is sitting as the favorite at -7, while the over/under is sitting at 226.5 points.

Miami Heat Preview

To start the season, the Miami Heat have been having a difficult time. So, they’ll be trying to get back on track a little bit.

One of the biggest problems that Miami has run into early this season is their three point percentage. They take several three pointers per game, but they are making very few of them. For example, in their game against the Toronto Raptors on October 24th, they had 34 three point attempts, but they only made eight of those attempts. That just simply cannot happen, especially against a team like the Golden State Warriors when they have some of the greatest shooters to ever play the game of basketball in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Those two players can take over a game at any point in time, so the Heat need to make their threes to stay in this game.

Miami’s defense seems to be pretty good this season. They also have a possible defensive player of the year candidate in Bam Adebayo, who could guard just about any position. But, they might have trouble keeping up with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Curry and Thompson are difficult to guard as it is, and the only way they might be able to slow them down is if they can get a matchup with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo guarding them. Regardless, it will not be easy for anyone to guard those two. If Miami wants to win, they have to try to slow them down a little bit.

Golden State Warriors Preview

Golden State is coming off of a loss to the Phoenix Suns, and they’ll want to have a strong bounce back game.

The Warriors had a difficult game against Phoenix, with Stephen Curry being slowed down by the Suns’ defense, and Klay Thompson being ejected for the first time in his career. And in the time that Klay Thompson was playing for, he did not perform too well. But, that could change at any point for a player like him. For the most part, the Warriors need to make their shots at a high rate to win this game. Miami has been struggling to make some of their shots, so Stephen Curry and Golden State could make this a blowout win if they can make the open shots that Miami can’t make.

Something that killed the Warriors’ defense against the Suns was the amount of fouls that were called against them. And when you commit fouls, that results in the opposing team getting free throws. And for Phoenix they had a lot of them. Compared to Golden State’s 17 free throw attempts, Phoenix ended up with 34 free throw attempts by the time the game was over. Miami has some good free throw shooters, so they cannot let something like that happen again if they want to win.

Winner Prediction: Golden State Warriors -7

Both of these teams are having some troubles this season, but Golden State should be able to get the win in front of the home crowd.

After a difficult loss against Phoenix, they should be ready to have a huge bounce back game.
