Golden State Warriors Preview
The Warriors are coming into this game at 29-29, and it will be a fight down the stretch with many teams neck and neck in the standings.
Golden State took a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in their last game, and they could have a very rough time for the next several games without Stephen Curry. Curry is out with a leg injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for several contests after the all star break. With him out, the Warriors will have to rely on players like Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson to carry the offense while Curry is absent.
The biggest problem for the Warriors against the Clippers wasn’t even their offense. It was how poorly their defense did all around. In total, the Warriors let the Clippers shoot 53 percent from the field, and they also let the Clippers make 17 three pointers. The Clippers aren’t the greatest offensive team in the league, so it’s surprising that the Warriors let them shoot the ball that well. That’s something that will have to be changed against the Lakers.
Los Angeles Lakers Preview
The Lakers are having another disappointing season, but they are still only two games out from a play-in spot.
The Lakers are coming into this game at 27-32 after getting a win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Against the Pelicans, the Lakers new pickup of D’Angelo Russell played very well, with him putting up 21 points and seven assists. He helped the Lakers get a big win before the all star break, and the other players that pitched in quite a bit on offense were the usual suspects in LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But for a team that hasn’t been too good on the defensive side of the ball this season, they were able to put on a good performance.
The Lakers had a very solid night defensively, and their defense on perimeter was pretty good throughout the whole game. The Pelicans ended up shooting 7/25 from three point range, which is only 28 percent. They put together a very good defensive performance, but they still need to be careful against the Warriors. Even though they will be without Stephen Curry, players like Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson can easily take over a game with their offense.
