Golden State Warriors Preview
Golden State got completely dominated in the first game these two teams played against each other, and they’ll need to make some major changes against Phoenix.
The biggest problem Golden State faced in their first matchup was their lack of defense, with them letting Phoenix make over fifty percent of their shots. In fact, this was just a sloppy game overall for the Warriors. Klay Thompson got ejected for the first time in his career against this team, so tempers could flare once again in this rematch. Something that Golden State needs to clean up in this match is their three point percentage. Phoenix guarded that very well in their first game against them, especially with the Warriors having two of the best three point shooters in NBA history on their team.
This didn’t cost Golden State the game in their first matchup, but foul trouble was a big issue in that game. By the end of the game, Golden State fouled them 28 times, which also led to the Phoenix Suns attempting 34 free throws. This is something that can be cleaned up, and the Warriors need to keep the number of fouls down to compete in this game.
Phoenix Suns Preview
The Suns have had a good start to the year, so they’ll be trying to get another win off of a Warriors team that has been struggling early in the season.
When these two teams faced off for the first time earlier in the season, they just did everything better than the Warriors. They were able to get the win fairly easily against them, so they should be ready to do it again. If they can draw a good amount of fouls like last time, Phoenix should be in a very good position to win this game. But, they still need to be careful with the Warriors. They can’t take them lightly.
It seemed clear that Phoenix got into the heads of Golden State the last time they played. And for that reason, it’s plausible that the Warriors will come out and be ready to put together a good game. The main player that they have to be careful of is obviously Stephen Curry. He’s a very lethal shooter who can take over the game at any point. They’ll have to keep Klay Thompson in check as well, but he isn’t quite the same player he was ever since his injuries. He’s still very good though, so expect the Suns to keep a close eye on him.
Winner Prediction: Phoenix Suns -1.5
Golden State has gotten off to a difficult start this season, and that probably won’t change against the Phoenix Suns.
Phoenix has gotten off to a good start this season, and you should expect them to get the win over the Warriors.
