Boston Celtics Vs. Miami Heat Betting Odds Breakdown
The new NBA season has started, and the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat will be facing off early in the season.
These two teams met up in the playoffs last season, and the Celtics took the series. And now, they will be looking to beat the Heat in a regular season matchup. Boston is set as the favorite at -2.5, and the over/under is at 216.5 points.
Boston Celtics Preview
Boston is coming off a win against the Philadelphia 76ers, and they’ll be looking to keep up their solid play against Miami.
Both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum will be looking to take the next step in their young careers. Both of them are just one age apart, with Tatum being only 24 years old and Brown being just 25 years old. Against the 76ers, both Tatum and Brown put on a show, with both of them putting up 35 points on the board. The rest of the starting lineup played pretty well, and the supporting cast did their job. It’s going to be difficult for Boston’s star duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to play at the same level as they did against the 76ers, but if they can play even close to that, they will put Boston in a good situation to win.
Something else that Boston does very well is protect the paint. Last year, they were second in the league with only letting up 42 points in the paint per game. And that could be a problem for Miami. If Boston can defend that well in the paint again to start the season, they could take some of Bam Adebayo’s offense out of the game.
Miami Heat Preview
The Miami Heat fell to the Chicago Bulls in their first game of the season, so they will be looking to bounce back and get their first win of the season.
For the Miami Heat, their offense is interesting. They have plenty of weapons that could score effectively, with players like Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro on their roster. But, after being the number one seed last year, it looks like they will be taking a bit of a dip in the standings this season. Kyle Lowry isn’t the same player that he once was, and even Victor Oladipo missed Miami’s first game due to a knee injury. For Miami’s offense to be effective against Boston, they’re going to need a big game from Jimmy Butler.
Miami’s defense is pretty solid, especially with Bam Adebayo playing at center. He’s someone who can defend every position on the court, and he may be in the running for the Defensive Player of the Year award later on in the season. But, everyone else might have a little bit of trouble keeping up with Boston.
Winner Prediction: Boston Celtics -2.5
Just overall, the Boston Celtics are a better team than Miami. They should be able to get the win over the Heat, and they may be able to do it pretty easily.
