Saints vs. Cardinals Breakdown and Betting Odds

The 2-4 New Orleans Saints travel to Arizona to take on the 2-4 Arizona Cardinals on October 20 for Week 7 Thursday Night Football action at 8:15 PM EST on Amazon Prime.

The Cardinals are a 2.5-point favorite, and the over/under is set at 46.

These teams are evenly matched. The Saints average 23.5 points per game, and the Cardinals average 20.7 points per game through the first six weeks of the season.

New Orleans Saints Overview

The Saints have been plagued with injuries especially at quarterback and wide receiver. It is unclear who will be the Saints starting QB as both Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston were limited practice participants. Winston is dealing with multiple back fractures so his timeline for return remains up in the air. Dalton has started the last three games in Winston’s absence only to suffer a back injury of his own in the team’s Week 6 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Wide receivers are also short in supply for the Saints as Jarvis Landry, Michael Thomas, and Keith Kirkwood did not practice on Tuesday. Rookie WR Chris Olave is expected to return after suffering a concussion in Week 5.

The Week 7 Pro Football Focus (PFF) overall team rankings have the Saints ranked at 24th out of 32 teams.

Arizona Cardinals Overview

The Cardinals have big injury issues on offense also. Wide receiver Marquise Brown is out with a foot injury. This week the Cardinals did get reinforcements following a trade with the Panthers for Robbie Anderson and DeAndre Hopkins coming back after a six-game suspension.

Quarterback Kyler Murray has created dazzling play at times and in other situations look underwhelming.

PFF ranks the Cardinals at 26th overall in their 2022 Week 7 team ratings.

TakingVegas.com Pick: Under 46

It is difficult to predict who wins the game. These teams come in with the same record, riddled with key injuries, and are evenly matched per the PFF Power Rankings. Given the injuries and the inconsistencies with both offenses, picking under 46 is the prudent choice.
