Line: Washington -7.5

Washington vs. California Breakdown and Betting Odds

A Pac-12 showdown is set for Saturday night as the Washington Huskies (5-2) face off against the California Golden Bears (3-3). Kickoff is set for 10:30 PM EST with Washington favored by 7.5 points and the over/under set at 56.5.

The last four matchups between these two teams have been even with both teams winning two of four. Cal has also covered the spread in three of these four games.

Washington Overview

Washington is coming off of a 49-39 victory against the Arizona Wildcats that saw them fail to cover the -15 point spread. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had an impressive game, completing 36/44 passes, throwing for 516 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Running back Cameron Davis had a nice day as well, while he only rushed for 41 yards on 8 carries, he was able to punch in 2 touchdowns. Receiver Rome Odunze had a monster performance, grabbing 9 receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns.

Washington’s offense has been potent this season, scoring a conference high 42.1 points per game. They are also ninth best in the FBS with 512.3 yards of offense per game. They also lead the FBS with 380 passing yards per game. Their defense has been solid as well, allowing 28.6 points per game, which ranks in the middle of the Pac-12.

California Overview

California is off to a rough 3-3 start and is coming off of two straight losses. Their last game, a 13-20 overtime loss to Colorado was a huge upset that saw them fail to cover the -15 point spread. California went scoreless in the first half, giving Colorado, who is ranked last in the conference in points per game and points per game allowed, their first win of the season.

This game was a major departure from California’s normally strong defense, which allows 21.7 points per game, which is second in the conference. Their offense, however, has been stagnant so far this season, ranking second to last in points per game. Their offense and defense are ranked seventy-ninth and sixty-ninth, respectively, and we think it will be a tough matchup against a solid Washington team.

TakingVegas.com 1* Free Pick: Washington -7.5

Due to California’s weak offense, we find it hard to see them keeping it close, which is why we like Washington -7.5. We think that Washington’s top 10 FBS offense will be simply too much for California to handle, despite a solid defensive showing this season.
