Las Vegas Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs Breakdown and Betting Odds
The Las Vegas Raiders (1-3) take on the leaders of the AFC West Kansas City Chiefs (3-1) for Monday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium. Kickoff starts at 8:15 PM EST, with the Chiefs favored by 7.5 points and the over/under set at 51.5.
The Chiefs have won three of the last four matchups between these division rivals, including two major blowouts last season with final scores of 41-14 and 48-9.
Las Vegas Raiders Overview
The Raiders are off to a rocky start to the season, heading into Week 5 with only one win. All three of their losses have also been close games that were decided by one score. This is a disappointing start for Las Vegas, to say the least. Expectations were high for this Raiders team after they picked up star receiver Davante Adams in the offseason, giving Derek Carr another weapon on a team that had already made the playoffs.
The Raiders are coming off their only win this season, in a 32-23 victory over the Denver Broncos, that saw them cover the -2.5 point spread. Josh Jacobs had a season high 144 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns while Derek Carr threw for 188 yards.
Receiver Hunter Renfrow is set to make his return for Las Vegas, after suffering a concussion in Week 2 against the Cardinals. In last year’s series with the Chiefs, Renfrow had 20 catches on 25 targets, for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Kansas City Chiefs Overview
The Chiefs are looking dominant this season, having only dropped one game so far. Their run includes wins against the Bucs and the Chargers, who were near the top of the Superbowl favorites list prior to the season. Their offense is looking potent, averaging over 32 points per game. Patrick Mahomes has also been part of early MVP considerations, already having thrown for 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Last week saw the Chiefs dismantle the Buccaneers defense, in a 41-31 win and a cover of the +2 spread. This game was a let less close than the final score may suggest, with a pillar of the Chiefs’ offense, Travis Kelce, catching 9 receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire also looked dominant, rushing for 92 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Kansas City’s kicker Harrison Butker is still out with an ankle injury that has sidelined him for the past three weeks, but his replacement. Matt Wright is 2/2 on FGs and 5/5 on PATs.
TakingVegas.com 1* Free Pick: Chiefs -7.5
The Chiefs have shown no sign of slowing down on the offensive side of the ball this season. Because of this, we’re going with the Chiefs -7.5. We don’t see the Raiders having enough on either side of the ball to stop the Chiefs, so we think this should be an easy cover.
