The White Sox have won 3 of the last 4 starts made by Michael Kopech and the game they lost, he went 7 innings and allowed just 2 earned runs. Over those 4 starts, he has pitched 22 2/3 innings and allowed 6 earned runs so he has been pitching well over the last month.
The White Sox are 8-4 over their last 12 games and if you go back to July 12th, they are 13-7 so they have begun to turn their slow start to this season around.
Looking at Texas, they are 6-10 since returning from the All-Star Break and they have lost 8 of their last 9 games played at home dating back to their series vs Seattle before the break. Dane Dunning is on the mound for the Rangers this evening and despite Texas winning his last start, they had lost 11 straight games where he started before breaking that streak with a 5-2 victory over the Angels on July 31st.
In his last home starts against Minnesota, he went 2 1/3 innings while allowed 6 hits and 4 earned runs. The White Sox are 5th in the league in team batting average and should be able to get to Dunning today as we would be surprised if he makes it past the 5th inning this evening. The bullpen for Texas has been good but not great so we like the match-up here with the White Sox with Kopech on the mound vs Dunning.
