Giants vs Packers Breakdown and Betting Odds

The Green Bay Packers (3-1) take on the New York Giants (3-1) this Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This is the second London game of the NFL season and kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. ET. The Packers are favored by 8 points and the over/under is set at 41.5

The last time these teams played was in December 2019, in a decisive 31-13 victory for the Packers.

Giants Overview

The Giants are a surprising story early in this NFL season, getting ahead to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2011. They are coming off of a 12-20 win against the Chicago Bears last week in which the Giants covered the -3 point spread. Daniel Jones only threw for 71 yards, but was able to rush for 68, and ran in two touchdowns. Saquon Barkley has also looked fantastic this year, rushing for 146 yards of his own. The Giants defense also stopped the Bears from scoring any touchdowns, limiting all of their offense to field goals.

Giants fans may have some problems heading into Week 5, though, as their starting QB and backup QB both suffered injuries against the Bears and are questionable ahead of their matchup against Green Bay. Daniel Jones left the game with an ankle injury before Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion. If both are unavailable on Sunday, it would be the first NFL start for 2017 third round draft pick Davis Webb.

Packers Overview

After suffering a 7-23 blowout loss to the Vikings in Week 1, the Packers have won three straight, including a 14-12 victory against Tom Brady’s Buccaneers in Week 3. Their last matchup, a 27-24 overtime victory against the New England Patriots was a closer game than anyone expected, with the Patriots covering the +9.5 point spread. The game came down to the final four seconds of overtime, in which Mason Crosby kicked in the game winning field goal.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 251 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception, which resulted in a Pick-6. Aaron Jones ran for 110 yards averaging 6.9 yards per carry, while Allen Lazard recorded 116 yards and 6 receptions.

There have been questions about the Packers’ offense, with Aaron Rodgers losing star receiver Davante Adams in the offseason, the WR1 role has been up in the air. A different receiver has led in yards in every game since Week 1, and the confused offense has showed in some games, with only 7 points in Week 1 and only 14 in Week 3.

TakingVegas.com 1* Free Pick: Under 41.5

Due to both of these teams’ ability to stop scores, as well as their inability to score themselves, we like the Under 41.5. With the Giants’ questions at quarterback, and the Packers’ questions at receiver, we don’t see this one having a lot of scoring. Additionally, the under has hit in three out of each teams’ last four games.
