NY JETS @ NY GIANTS
Line: Jets -3
Total: 36.5
The Jets and Giants meet on Sunday with both teams amid disappointing seasons although both are off potential season saving wins in their last games. The Jets come in off a bye week but in their most recent game they came from behind to beat the Philadelphia Eagles as a +6.5 point underdog. They needed to make a big play late in the game and their defense came through for them as they got the late interception and then punched it in on their next play.
The Giants looked shaky for most of their game last week against Washington as they had numerous chances to put a close game away and failed to do so. They dropped a potential pick 6 and also fumbled inside the 10 but their defense came through with the stops it needed and they got out of there with a 14-7 win over a divisional rival.
So, how will this game shake out? Well, we feel the metrics point towards a low scoring affair.
The Giants defense has been playing extremely well as of late. We could not hold the Dolphins game against them as they allowed 524 yards and 31 points however, they forced 3 turnovers and scored on 1 of them. In their last 2 games against Buffalo and Washington they have allowed a total of 21 points, so this is a unit that is getting better each week. Obviously, the Jets do not possess a great offense as they have struggled for most of this season with Wilson at the helm. He ranks 30th in passer rating and is averaging just 183 yards a game. The Giants defense should be able to control the line of scrimmage and make it very tough for the Jets to get into any rhythm
The same exact thing can be said for the Jets defense against the Giants offense. The Jets just held a very good Eagles offense to 14 points and in rewatching that game, Philadelphia looked very uncomfortable most of the game. Now they get a Giants offense that has scored 47 points in their last 5 games (not including the pick 6 vs Miami). The Giants managed 9 offensive points vs the Dolphins and Bills, two teams from the Jets division. The Jets have a better defense than both of those teams.
There are also now trade rumors around Saquan Barkley and the Giants are going to want to sell him high. We do not expect them to give him a high work output in this game due to that and we all know he is their best offensive player by far.
All this points towards a low scoring game. Look for a final score in the area of 16-13 with both teams dominating the opposing offense.
