11 Part Series starting today, and we want you to understand that we are not here just to pick every favorite in their respective divisions. We will go out on a limb with some of these picks and it will culminate with who we feel will represent each conference in the big game and ultimately win it. So, let’s get started with the NFC East:
ODDS TO WIN DIVISION:
Dallas -110
Philadelphia +150
Washington +450
NY Giants +750
Right out of the gate we are going to surprise you and maybe make you roll your eyes. But for the value they are offering, we feel the NY Giants are a very solid bet at +750.
When looking at and researching their schedule, you will see that they play 1 true road game over their first 6 games. That is week 1 at Tennessee which is a winnable game for the Giants. Then they have 3 straight at home vs Carolina, Dallas and Chicago. They get Green Bay in London which is a big advantage because they avoid Lambeau Field and then they come home for Baltimore.
If New York can get through these 6 games at 3-3 (Yes 3-3) they will be in great shape because their next 4 games are against Jacksonville, Seattle, Houston and Detroit. Those 4 teams combined to go 17-50-1 last year and 3 of these teams have major questions at the quarterback position.
New York can easily win all 4 of these games and that would put them at 7-3 with 5 divisional games left of their 7 remaining. Going into this season the Giants have the 4th easiest projected schedule of the 32 NFL Teams. We like all of this at 7.5 to 1 odds.
Looking at their roster, the Giants really are not a bad football team. They have two high first round picks at both Offensive Tackle positions and made some smart signings to fill out the rest of the offensive line. They have some solid playmakers at WR and if Saquon Barkley somehow stays healthy, he can be a tremendous playmaker for them. The question of course is at the QB position with Daniel Jones. We are not overly sold on him however; this will be the most talented and the best offensive line he has had to work with in his time in New York. If he cuts down on the turnovers the Giants will be a solid offense.
On defense they are extremely underrated. They very well may have the best defensive line in the league with Williams, Lawrence, and rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux. They get Blake Martinez back from injury which will help the Linebackers and their secondary is coming along. New defensive coordinator Wink Martindale is known for having solid defenses and we expect this group to be very good, especially with their schedule they are playing.
Look, we know the Giants aren’t getting much of a look in regard to being a competitive football team, but Dallas has injury issues at the WR position and seemingly always under performs. Sorry Cowboy Fans.
Do Jalen Hurts for Philadelphia and Carson Wentz for Washington really scare you. The projected bet value for all these teams is just not enticing.
New York at +750 represents tremendous value. We aren’t picking them to win the Super Bowl or even a playoff game but coming out of a weak division, this is a team worth taking a flier on.
