Part 2 of our 11 Part Series and today we focus on the NFC North.
ODDS TO WIN DIVISION:
Chicago +1000
Detroit +800
Green Bay -225
Minnesota +250
In part 1 of this series, we gave you a nice sized, surprising underdog on the NY Giants +750 to win the NFC East. There is no surprise here in the NFC North as we are sticking with the chalk.
Green Bay is way better than the other 3 teams in this division and should have no trouble walking to a 4th straight division title. Over the past 3 seasons, Green Bay is a combined 39-10. The other 3 teams in the division are a combined 58-87. The only other team to finish over .500 in this division over these 3 years were the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 when they went 10-6.
Green Bay gets started this season at Minnesota and then home to Chicago. Week 3 is a serious test on the road against Tampa Bay and Tom Brady. Week 4 will be a challenge as well with the Patriots coming to town. But the rest of their schedule isn’t too daunting.
At Buffalo will certainly be a challenge in Week 8 and home against the Rams will be tough in Week 15 but that is a Monday night game in Green Bay so that certainly will not help the warm weather team.
Our projected record for Green Bay this season is 12-5 overall and 5-1 at worst in the division. There is an ocean sized difference in the talent for Aaron Rodgers when matched up against the other 3 QB’s in the division and Green Bay’s defense should be formidable.
Sure, losing Davante Adams is not going to help but the competition in this division is just not good. Maybe Minnesota can make a run at a 10-win season if everything breaks right but trusting Kirk Cousins is never a wise idea. Forget Detroit and forget Chicago. It’s a 2-horse race in this division and Minnesota doesn’t have enough to compete with Green Bay over 17 games.
-225 here actually presents some value with this wager. Think about it like this. If you took a 6-point favorite for any NFL Game, the money line is -225.
A 6-point favorite is hardly a guarantee as it wouldn’t shock anyone if the underdog won outright. It would absolutely shock us if Green Bay did not win this division so to catch them at -225, we feel like that is stealing money and as sure of a bet as you could possibly make, barring injuries.
No surprises here, the Packers win the North for the 4th straight time
