We have seen some games in the preseason but it will be in the blink of an eye that Super Bowl 58 will be here. What teams are going to represent each conference in the game and which one will hoist the Super Bowl Trophy?
Every team has the hopes of winning it but only one team will. Let’s take a deeper dive into the teams with the best odds to win it all this season and discuss if we should be backing them this season.
Kansas City Chiefs (+600)
The reigning Super Bowl Champions have the best chance of repeating this season. We already know that as long as they are healthy, they are going to win games. Even when Patrick Mahomes is hobbled, he still can dominate on the field. If Chris Jones returns to the team, which I fully expect him to, it will be a solid plus.
This Chiefs team needs close to an average defense in order to be dominant and Kansas City should be in the position to continue winning games. Until they get knocked off, it seems to be a safe bet that they will at least be in the AFC Championship Game and likely host it as well.
Philadelphia Eagles (+650)
The Philadelphia Eagles are an interesting case to look at as they lost both coordinators to head coaching positions. However, Jalen Hurts is looking for revenge after losing in the Super Bowl but they have some incredible talent. Looking at the defense that had the third-most sacks as a team in NFL history (70) adding Jalen Carter in the draft, they should be okay.
Their record might be worse than last year but they are still a good bet to win the NFC and the odds are not too crazy right now to at least take a flyer.
Buffalo Bills (+900)
This is a team I would avoid until we see a clear indication of their success. It seems like their window is closing a bit and that is never good. Josh Allen had a UCL injury to his throwing elbow last season and those are never good for a starting quarterback. Then the Bills want him to run the football less to preserve his body but the Bills do not have a legitimate running game with James Cook and Daien Harris in the backfield.
Then we also have the issue with Stefon Diggs to begin OTAs as there seems to be some sort of rift. With teams like the Chiefs, Bengals and Jets all in contention, they are not the team that I would recommend placing a wager on unless you plan on selling the pick around the time of the postseason. Their division is too much with New York and Miami both being there and I don’t trust a team that almost lost to Skylar Thompson in the Wild Card Round last year.
San Francisco 49ers (+1000)
This is a team I will be investing some tickets into as they have a lot of talent throughout their roster. I am under the impression that they will trade away Trey Lance and use Sam Darnold as their backup quarterback. However, their skill position players are dominant with Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle on the field.
Their division is easy to navigate as the Seahawks need to expect a step back from Geno Smith while both Arizona and Los Angeles are going to be potentially in the Caleb Williams sweepstakes. Their defense is also strong and with Brock Purdy, this team showed the ability to win games.
