Rutgers vs. Michigan Key Stats

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are scoring 31.7 points on 346.3 total yards per game throughout the season. Junior quarterback Gavin Wimsatt has been struggling a bit as he is 34-of-66 (51.5 completion percentage) for 407 yards with three touchdowns while also running 28 times for 144 yards with a pair of rushing touchdowns. They also have a solid running back with junior Kyle Monangai as he has 58 carries for 357 yards (6.2 yards per attempt) with five rushing touchdowns as well as a pair of receptions for 23 yards. If they can figure out how to throw the ball better, it will be a great improvement for this offense.

The defense of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights have been doing extremely well as they are allowing 10 points on 272.7 total yards per game. In their most recent game against the Virginia Tech Hokies, they are giving up 16 points on 319 total yards. They allowed conversions on 5-of-15 third down tries and forced a pair of turnovers (one interception, one fumble recovery) to step up. If they can figure out how to continue keeping the teams out of the end zone, they will be in a great spot to pull off a massive upset.

Michigan Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines have been doing pretty well as they are scoring 32 points on 402 total yards per game up to this point. They have a pair of dominant players as junior quarterback JJ McCarthy has been throwing the ball extremely well as he is 56-of-88 (82.4 completion percentage) for 701 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Senior running back Blake Corum has been doing well too as he has 37 rushes for 254 yards (6.9 yards per attempt) with six rushing touchdowns as well as five catches for 28 yards. If Jim Harbaugh’s return can really provide a positive aspect to the offense, this could be a huge game.

The Wolverines defense has been incredible as they are allowing 5.3 points on 222.3 total yards per game. They had a massive win against the Bowling Green Falcons last week as they gave up six points on 203 total yards per game. They allowed just 10 first downs and were able to force three turnovers (one fumble recovery, two interceptions). They dominated the trenches as they gave up just 2.2 yards per rushing attempt against them. If they can figure out how to continue dominating in the trenches, they can continue dominating their opponents.
