Seahawks vs. Lions Key Stats
Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have to play better offensively than they did last week as they scored 13 points on 197 total yards. They already have offensive tackle Abraham Lucas on Injured Reserve and offensive tackle Charles Cross is questionable for this game with a toe injury. Geno Smith was unable to get going as he finished 16-of-26 for 112 yards and a touchdown. They could not get long drives going as they were 2-for-9 on third down and only recorded 13 total first downs throughout the game. The team averaged just 3.9 yards per play and need to do a lot better if they want to get back to the postseason like they did a year ago.
The Seahawks defense needs to play a lot better as they gave up 30 points on 426 total yards against the Rams. They gave up 11-of-17 on third down and struggled against the running game as Los Angeles finished with 40 carries for 92 yards and three touchdowns. Matt Stafford is not exactly rolling out of the pocket often but the Seahawks had just two quarterback hits and zero sacks in the game. The defense needs to shake off their Week 1 performance and avoid going 0-2 here.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions were able to get going offensively against the Kansas City Chiefs as they were able to score 21 points on 368 total yards. Jared Goff had a good game as he was 22-of-35 for 253 yards with a touchdown. They were able to run the ball effectively enough as they had 3.5 yards per carry. They were able to keep a clean pocket for Goff as he only was sacked once and was hit four times throughout the game. This offense has shown the ability to utilize a bunch of young talent in the skill positions to do well and should continue here.
Detroit’s defense did pretty well all things considered as they allowed 20 points on 316 total yards against. Kansas City was not able to really get big plays going throughout the game and only were able to record 17 total first downs throughout the game. The Lions defense had seven quarterback hits but did not record a single sack. They also were able to have a pick six to really solidify the victory. If they can do that against one of the best quarterbacks and have an extended week to game plan, it will be a huge plus for the program to do well here.
