FRIDAY REPORT
It was certainly an interesting Game 1 of the NBA Finals as Boston overcame a terrible third quarter by outscoring Golden State 40-16 in the 4th behind Al Horford and Derrick White as they made 3 after 3. Golden State certainly got a taste of their own medicine and now we will see how they’ll respond in Game 2 on Sunday night. The Warriors are a 4.5 point favorite in Game 2 with a total that is currently sitting at 215.5.
Over to the NHL and Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals takes place at Madison Square Garden tonight with the Rangers holding a 1-0 lead in the series. It is the first time this postseason the Rangers have a lead in a series so how they handle that will be the story. The “Kid Line” looked great for them on Wednesday night with Filip Chytil scoring 2 goals in the 2nd period. He has been on a tear in the postseason as he has 7 goals in 15 games after scoring just 8 goals in 67 games during the regular season. Something to keep in mind for tonight is a mind-blowing stat. In the last 10 playoff series the Lightning have played, they are a perfect 17-0 following a loss. They are -135 in Game 2 and the total is set at 5.5
As for Friday night Baseball, there are some big-name pitchers going tonight as all 30 teams will be in action. The Phillies fired Joe Girardi this morning with the team underperforming this season as they have a 22-29 record and sit 12 games behind the NL East Leading NY Mets.
The Phillies could be a solid play though tonight off the firing with Zach Eflin on the mound. He does have a 4.60 ERA and he is coming off a bad start against the Mets however, he has pitched 23 innings at home this season and has allowed just 4 earned runs. In his last home start, he went 7 innings against a very good Dodgers lineup and allowed just 4 hits with 2 earned runs. He is a much different pitcher at home than he is on the road and with the Angels coming off a double header yesterday in New York and with them being on an 8-game losing streak, we feel this is a good spot to back Philadelphia.
