Commanders vs. Broncos Key Stats

Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders have been doing decently well offensively as they scored 20 points on 294 total yards. They might be without wide receiver Curtis Samuel as he is dealing with a hip injury. Sam Howell held his own but has room for improvement as he finished 19-of-31 for 202 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Washington struggled to move the football as they finished just 4-of-12 on third down attempts. They turned the ball over three times (two fumbles, one interception) and if they can clean that up, they will in prime position to be a threat in the NFC.

This Commanders defense did a good job as well as they gave up 16 points on 210 total yards. They only allowed 13 total first downs throughout the game and the Cardinals were unable to score on either red zone opportunities. The defense was able to get hard hits as they were able to recover a pair of fumbles. As a team, they recorded three sacks and six quarterback hits as Montez Sweat recorded 1.5 sacks in the game. If the defense can continue to flex their muscles as Chase Young is expected to play this week, they can really do well here.

Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos were not able to do a lot offensively in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders as they finished with 16 points on 260 yards. However, quarterback Russell Wilson had himself a strong showing going 27-of-34 for 177 yards with two touchdown passes. Denver finished 5-of-11 on third down tries and did not commit any turnovers. This team has to find the end zone a bit more to be considered a decent offensive team.

The Broncos defense has to do well as they gave up 17 points on 261 total yards. They need to force more incompletions as the Raiders were 20-of-26 passing. However, the run defense did great against Josh Jacobs and co. as the Broncos held them to just 2.1 rushing yards per attempt. Denver forced an interception but only recorded three quarterback hits without any sacks. With Frank Clark being week-to-week, this defense needs to figure out how to step up and continue to keep them in the game.
